Angelica Challenger HSEC-RYT 200

Movement is what I am passionate about. For as long as I can remember I have found great joy in moving. Whether it was dancing, yoga, bike riding, tree climbing, sports, or swimming. As I got into my late teens, early twenties, I began to experience low back pain. There was no medical diagnosis or reason for it, and as the years crept on, my pain increased. To the point that some days it took all I had to get out of bed. I tried every modality I could find to address the debilitating pain.

Then I found Somatics, and through this practice everything changed. It was like I was given my life back, and I was in the driver's seat again. I was no longer afraid to move, and I knew that I now held the tools to get out of pain when it came back.

In 2012 I completed my 200 hr yoga teacher training in Hatha and Ashtanga yoga in Rishikesh, India.

In 2016 and 2017 I completed my level 1 & 2 Hanna Somatic Movement Coach training through Essential Somatics.

I continue to incorporate methods into my teaching practice, that are focused on re-balancing the nervous system for greater health, that can be easily learned and used daily.

The guiding principle of my teaching practice is that we are a whole system, which has experienced a whole life, that brought us to exactly where we are now. Only by knowing where we are, can we begin to affect the change we desire, and set a new course. As a somatic movement educator, I am dedicated to creating a safe and enjoyable environment for my clients to learn and explore through movement. My goal as a teacher is to empower my students with the tools of self awareness, self compassion, self responsibility, patience and knowledge.

May we each experience more of ourselves and in turn awaken more in eachother!
